UPDATE
STATEMENT FROM STAGEWORKS EAST WEST – 4 AUGUST 2025
It is with great regret that Stageworks East West, the co-producers of The Omega Factor: By The Pricking of My Thumbs, have made the difficult decision to postpone the inaugural production of the new work by the late Natasha Gerson and Liam Rudden.
Knock-on complications arising from the sudden loss of our much loved co-producer have made it impossible to present the show within the originally planned time-frame. The Omega Factor: By The Pricking of My Thumbs will been rescheduled for later this year. Details will be announced shortly.
Ticket holders should contact the point of purchase for refund.
Statement by Stageworks East West Ltd on the passing of Scottish stage and television icon Natasha Gerson
It was with great sadness and some shock that Scottish based theatre company Stageworks East West Ltd received the news of the passing of Scottish stage and television icon Natasha Gerson, who died peacefully at home in the early hours of Sunday 27 July.
Natasha was not only a remarkable ballet dancer, actor, writer and producer but also a dear friend, who will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Liam Rudden, co-founder of Stageworks East West Ltd, says, “Natasha was an inspiration. Everybody loved her, she was force of nature and a joy to be around. All of us here at Stageworks East West, who are working on the first ever stage version of The Omega Factor set to premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe in a coupe of weeks time, are absolutely devastated by the news.
“The show was her passion project, she was the driving force behind it and saw it as a wonderful tribute to the memory of her father, creator of the original BBC Scotland TV series of The Omega Factor, Jack Gerson. It’s terribly poignant for us to now find we are staging the production as a tribute to both Jack and Natasha. Working alongside her on something she was so immensely proud of, has been an absolute privilege and we are all determined to do her proud in return.”
Natasha co-wrote, co-produced, and was due to perform in The Omega Factor, a world premiere stage revival of her father’s cult 1970s paranormal thriller series at the Edinburgh Fringe this August.
Those closest to Natasha have expressed their wish that the show should continue as planned, not only as a celebration of her and her father’s lives and careers but also because she was so delighted to be sharing this story with audiences. Stageworks East West has therefore made the decision to proceed with the production as a tribute to her many talents.
The opening night on 19 August 2025 will be dedicated to Natasha’s memory and will serve as a special tribute evening.
Natasha Gerson’s talent, generosity, and spirit will be deeply missed.
The Omega Factor runs from 19-23 August 2025 at Braw Venues @ Grand Lodge, 96 George Street. Tickets here.
