Edinburgh’s panto favourites arrived at the Festival Theatre by bus today to launch Jack and the Beanstalk, this final ‘King’s Panto’ to be staged at its temporary home ahead of a return to the Old Lady of Leven Street in 2025 when, for the first time, the theatre’s festive fare will be The Adventures of Pinocchio.
Joining legendary Dame Allan Stewart, big tidy baddie Grant Stott and funnyman Jordan Young aboard the Christmas Bus were returning co-stars Clare Gray, Gail Watson and Amber Sylvia Edwards.
Back for her seventh year, Gray plays the lovable Pat the Cow in Jack and the Beanstalk, while Bonnyrigg lass and River City star Gail Watson chalks up her third Edinburgh panto as the mythical Spirit of the Beans, and, having made her Edinburgh panto debut last year, Coatbridge-born Edwards returns as Princess Jill.
Photographer Greg Macvean was on hand to capture all the magic moments… All aboard for Pantoland!
