From a dystopian classic to a trip through New York’s outrageous nightlife and a chilling haunting sure to have you on the edge of your seat, Glasgow’s stages look to the dark side in September. Get ready to hold your nerve…

1984, Citizens Theatre, until 26 September.

Running time 2 hours 30 minutes, including interval. Tickets HERE.

Big Brother is watching you. The Thought Police monitor every word you say. Children spy on their parents and the Party has abolished the truth. In this totally controlled world, Winston and Julia begin a love affair which catapults them into rebellion against the Party.

The nightmare of a totalitarian society built on terror and lies is brought to vivid life in a powerful new adaptation of George Orwell’s final novel, which dramatises Winston and Julia’s epic battle to retain their humanity against all odds. Of course, the real nightmare is that in 2026, Orwell’s terrifying post-truth world of ‘alternative facts’ is appearing around us and more prescient than ever.

Burlesque – A Big New Musical, Glasgow Kings, 8-19 September.

Running time 2 hours, 20 minutes, including interval, tickets HERE.

Having taken the West End by storm, becoming Summer 2025’s biggest hit, Burlesque A Big New Musical is coming to Glasgow in September. From executive producer Christina Aguilera and based on the hit movie, Burlesque invites you to a club like no other: a hidden world beneath the city lights where sequins sparkle, seduction shimmers and lives can change in the flick of a feather boa.

When Ali arrives in New York searching for the mother she never knew, she stumbles upon a dazzling underground scene alive with music, movement, and mystery. Drawn into this intoxicating world, she begins to uncover her extraordinary voice only to find an unexpected family of dreamers, misfits and schemers who will change her life forever.

The cast, led by Coronation Street’s Faye Brookes as Tess Richarde, includes Ryan Carter as Sean and Ms Loretta, Gracie O’Brien, who makes her professional stage debut as Ali Rose and Davide Fienauri as Vince. Also in the cast are Tyler Davis as Jackson and Vanessa Ela Young as Nikki.

A scintillating journey of self-discovery, Burlesque sizzles with powerhouse songs by Christina Aguilera, Sia and Diane Warren, alongside new numbers from Todrick Hall and Jess Folley. Prepare yourself for a night out you may never forget.

Paranormal Activity, Theatre Royal Glasgow 22-26 September.

Running time 2 hours 20 minutes, including interval, tickets HERE.

James and Lou move from Chicago to London to escape their past, but they soon discover that places aren’t haunted, people are…

The thrilling West End and international phenomenon inspired by the iconic film series, Paranormal Activity, comes to Glasgow with a brand-new story and new chilling special effects that promise to keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

If it does get too much, be warned there is no re-admittance should you leave the auditorium… and latecomers will not be admitted.
